The Value of Ethics
The construction industry is very competitive. We believe our progress, success and legacy depends on our good name. An excellent reputation is a differentiating competitive advantage. The reputation Nehemiah Construction Management earns everyday is impacted by our business ethics.

Customers are looking for character strength in people - character that enables them to differentiate between what is true and what is false. Winston Churchill put it like this: “The most valuable thing in the world is the truth.” Right Management Consultants, the world’s largest career transition and organizational consulting firm, surveyed employees across the USA, “What is the most important attribute that the leader of your company should possess?” Honesty is overwhelmingly number one. Integrity is a strong number two. Honesty has been defined as being truthful with others, integrity as being truthful with yourself. Honesty is the moral foundation of integrity. At Nehemiah, we have long believed that integrity is the bedrock of long-term success, one of our corporate values.

Over time our personal standards of honesty and integrity will be strengthened or weakened. It is a choice we make daily, one decision at a time. There are many areas of business that involve ethics including:

  • Compliance with laws
  • Confidentiality
  • Record management
  • Trade secrets
  • Accounting for funds
  • Professionalism
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Gifts and entertainment
  • Nepotism
  • Use of company assets, such as software, tools and equipment

At Nehemiah, we believe every action we take portrays an element of character that has the power to build or tear-down our reputation. Companies with good reputations do more than just follow the law; they treat people and other businesses fairly – whether the law requires it or not.

There are many benefits of strong ethics. When we operate with ethics, we create an atmosphere of trust and increase client satisfaction. Ethics help foster a positive image and encourage other firms to desire to do business with Nehemiah Construction Management. Firms that operate ethically are known and respected in the industry, which makes it easier to recruit talented individuals.

While ethics include the moral code we live by and our personal reputation, the fact is that strong ethics are good for business.

"Therefore, brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task.
